    This Gesha presents an exquisite aroma of lavender and rose, carrying through to a vibrant cup profile of purple grape, raspberry, red rose, and cherries, with a lingering cranberry finish. Each sip offers a layered and captivating journey of floral and fruit-forward flavors, unique to the careful and innovative processing at El Arbol.


    Story Behind the Bean

    In 2016, Claudia Lovo joined forces with Saša Šestić and other coffee professionals to transform El Arbol, a farm once producing only commodity coffee. Driven to create a self-sustaining farm that prioritizes biodiversity, soil health, and the well-being of its workers, they redefined the farm’s practices to improve quality and sustainability. Beyond coffee, El Arbol is a thriving ecosystem, supporting beehives, livestock, and vegetables that feed the team. Their holistic approach includes organic composting and aims for full organic certification by 2025. Workers are provided upgraded housing, meals, health and dental care, and education—reflecting a dedication to people as well as the land.


    A Unique Fermentation Process

    El Arbol’s Carbonic Maceration (CM) technique sets this coffee apart. Originally a winemaking technique from Beaujolais, CM in coffee involves fermenting whole coffee cherries in a carbon dioxide-filled, oxygen-free chamber. This anaerobic environment allows for a controlled fermentation that enhances fresh fruit flavors and reduces tannins, creating a refined, complex profile. The result is a Gesha with a distinctly bold, fruit-forward character that showcases the remarkable potential of this method in specialty coffee.
